Digital Design I
Description:
This micro-credential will focus on a variety of digital design principles including the elements of art, the principles of design, and how they work together to form a cohesive and impactful layout. Participants will also learn how advertising techniques and publication designs are strengthened through in-depth proficiency in design principles and vocabulary.

Participants can expect to gain proficiency in digital design and layout, color theory, typography, idea generation, creative design concepts, and output for a multitude of platforms.


Upon successful completion of this micro-credential participants will gain the skills necessary to create professional looking designs for print and web, such as flyers, brochures, newsletters, and other materials that will be viewed in print or within digital online forms.


Articulated Credit:
Credit can be awarded for COM-107 Introduction to Digital Design Tools with the completion of this micro-credential, the completion of Digital Design II and Fundamentals of Web Design micro-credentials upon acceptance into a Luzerne County Community College degree program.

Description:
This micro-credential will provide participants with an advanced understanding of the principles and practices of digital design. Gain additional insight into key design principles such as balance, contrast, hierarchy, and color theory. Participants will also learn how to effectively convey ideas and messages through engaging graphics, layouts, and multimedia. Participants can expect to gain advanced proficiency in digital design and layout, color theory, typography, and idea development. Participants will apply their skills through hands-on projects that simulate real-world design challenges, from social media graphics to web layouts.


Upon successful completion of this micro-credential students will be familiar with popular design tools and software that can enhance the creative process. Students will also gain the skills necessary to create professional looking designs for print and web, such as magazines, books/booklets, and other materials that will be viewed in print or within digital online forms.

Credit can be awarded for COM-107 Introduction to Digital Design Tools with the completion of this micro-credential, the completion of Digital Design I, and Fundamentals of Web Design micro-credentials, upon acceptance into a Luzerne County Community College degree program.

This micro-credential will focus on various web design principles including interface design, web architecture, and user experiences. This micro-credential will emphasize the importance of site planning, user interface design, site functionality, and overall usability for today's digitally connected users.


Upon successful completion of this micro-credential students will gain the skills necessary to create web sites that meet the challenges of balancing usability and functionality to engage users in today is rapidly changing digital environment.

Credit can be awarded for COM-107 Introduction to Digital Design Tools with the completion of this micro-credential, the completion of Digital Design I and Digital Design II micro-credential, upon acceptance into a Luzerne County Community College degree program.

Canva
Description:
Canva is a graphic design platform that makes creating social media, graphics, videos, and presentations easy. Learn Canva by using its intuitive drop-and-drag interface to create digital marketing and content for a wide array of business applications. Participants will also get a peak preview of additional design capability planned to be incorporated into the platform in the upcoming year.


Upon the successful completion of this micro-credential students will gain the skills to navigate Canva's user-interface, create graphics using templates and customization options, and export and share their designs.

Description:
This micro-credential is ideal for those new to social media marketing, providing students with the essential knowledge to confidently create and manage social media content. Students gain the skillsets to plan, design and execute impactful social media posts and content that resonate with target audiences. This course explores the foundational concepts of creating and managing social media content across various platforms focusing on the importance of social engagement. Through hands-on projects, students learn how to create content that is visually appealing, enhances engagement, strengthens brand identity and are platform appropriate.


Certification:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will develop a foundation in social media marketing, equipping them with the skills needed to create strategic and engaging content across various social media platforms that enhances visibility and fosters audience engagement. These competencies will enable students to support businesses, organizations and personal projects in growing their online presence.

Digital Photography
Note: Access to a manually adjustable DSLR camera is required.


Description:
This micro-credential will focus on portrait photography. Participants will learn the fundamentals of using a DSLR camera and gain an understanding of exposure and image capture. They will be introduced to photoshop editing and enhancements, lighting and various portrait styles. A practical hands-on approach will allow participants to apply the technical aspects of digital photography with their personal creative vision and style. Participants will gain proficiency in image capture using digital cameras, enhancing photographs utilizing industry standard software, working with subjects, and making creative portraits. Access to a manually adjustable DSLR camera is required.



Upon completing this micro-credential, students will have a strong foundation in camera use, lighting and portraiture. Topics will include camera operation, exposure, photoshop editing and enhancement, lighting, and portrait styles.

Description:
This micro-credential is designed to equip students with the essential skills needed to create professional online videos for use on websites, social media, mobile devices, and other digital marketing platforms. Participants will explore the full spectrum of digital video production from planning and storyboarding to post-production editing and digital distribution. Through hands-on experience, participants will gain proficiency in video editing and the use of graphics, and techniques for effectively distributing content across digital platforms. The micro-credential emphasizes creating engaging and visually appealing short-form video content, focusing on brand engagement and audience experience.


Upon successful completion of this micro-credential, students will develop the skills needed to produce compelling online videos, exploring various techniques in video production and editing, graphic creation and digital distribution. Students will be prepared to create and distribute effective video content that enhances overall audience engagement and brand presence in the digital space.
