Institutional Effectiveness - Assessment
LCCC measures effectiveness through achievement of the mission. The data below are samples of key measures used to gauge effectiveness.
Excellence in Education
Assessment of student learning is a continual effort of LCCC's faculty and staff. 100% of programs and courses have specific measurable learning outcomes, and faculty utilize assessment results to improve teaching and learning. In addition to review of student work, surveys are regularly conducted to identify student perceptions regarding their education. Students report higher levels of satisfaction and educational competencies than averages for other community colleges nationwide in many key areas.

Student Success & Goal Achievement
LCCC uses many measures to track success of our students. Retention of students each semester, as well as graduation rates are items in which our students consistently perform above the median for community colleges in Pennsylvania.
Student's achievement of personal goals is also a demonstration of success in achieving our mission. Nearly 96% of 2021 graduates reported that they accomplished their objectives at LCCC.
Positive Impact on Communities Served
LCCC helps build the workforce in our local community. More than 58% of employed 2021 graduates work in Luzerne County and 96% work in the state of Pennsylvania.
LCCC plays a significant role in the local economy and is a sound investment from multiple perspectives. Students benefit from improved lifestyles and increased earnings. Taxpayers benefit from a larger economy and lower social costs. Finally, the community as a whole benefits from increased job and investment opportunities, higher business revenues, greater availability of public funds, and an eased tax burden.
