Yeager Arboretum
About the Yeager Arboretum
Brooke and Libby Yeager, nature enthusiasts and tree lovers, wanted to do something lasting for the college that means so much to them.
The couple has provided an endowment that will allow the school to create an arboretum on campus as a living classroom for both students and the public.
Brooke a science professor who retired from LCCC, often took his classes around campus to observe the many trees and shrubs throughout the College's grounds. The original plantings at LCCC were all native Pennsylvania plants. Over 50 of the campus plantings have been identified with markers. The Yeager Arboretum has designated pathways to create a self-guided tour of the campus greenery.
The Yeagers intend their endowment to help the school maintain existing plants, plant new trees and shrubs, and continue to label some of the significant specimens. The couple wants to provide a means for people to learn more about the world around them through the study of plants and trees.
