Alumni Association Scholarship Program



The Alumni Association sponsors several scholarships each year for LCCC students. Apply for Scholarships here or call the Foundation office at (570) 740-0731.

Abigail M. George Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established by the LCCC Alumni Association in 1993 in memory of Abigail M. George, a dedicated volunteer and graduate of Luzerne County Community College. Applicant must be enrolled full-time and have earned at least 12 credits at the time of application, be involved in college or community activities and have unmet financial need.

Alumni Legacy Scholarship

This scholarship is for the child/grandchild/ward of an LCCC graduate. Other relationships may be considered by the review committee. Applicants must complete the Alumni Legacy Verification Form along with the Scholarship Application to be considered for the award and meet the following criteria: high school graduate or equivalent and involvement in high school / college/ community activities and be in good academic standing.

Cindy Yarasavich '79 Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2019 by the ladies' golf league, Diamonds in the Rough. Applicant must be enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program and have financial need.

Computer Information Systems Scholarship

Established in 2012 by the Computer Information Systems Department. Applicant must be enrolled in either the AS or AAS Computer Information Systems curriculum, must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours at LCCC, be enrolled in at least 12 credits in the semester in which the scholarship is awarded. First preference will be given to students who actively participate in the Computer Club.

Curry Family Scholarship

Established in 2001 by Francis '71 & Darryl '79 Curry, to assist students who have unmet financial need.

Dental Health Alumni Day Scholarship

This award was established in 2014 with proceeds from the annual Dental Health Alumni Day continuing education program. Applicant must have completed 15 credits at LCCC and be enrolled in either Dental Hygiene or Dental Practice Management.

Frank '06 & Lisa '96 Owens Scholarship

Established in 2015 by the LCCC Alumni Association Board, this scholarship is in recognition of Frank & Lisa Owens who were lifelong learners and dedicated more than a decade to the success of the LCCC Alumni Association. Applicant must have earned at least 15 credits at LCCC at the time of application; be active in college or community activities; and maintain a minimum of a 3.5 GPA. Award is open to those who are enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits the semester it is to be used. Special consideration will be given to students who have volunteered for the Phonathon or other alumni activities. Applicant must have unmet financial need.

LCCC Alumni Association Full-Time Scholarship

Applicant must maintain a 2.5 GPA, completed 15 semester hours at LCCC, be enrolled in 12+ credits in the semester in which the scholarship is awarded, and demonstrate participation in community and/or campus activities.

LCCC Alumni Association Part-Time Scholarship

Applicant must maintain a 2.5 GPA, completed 15 semester hours at LCCC, be enrolled in 6-11 credits in the semester in which the scholarship is awarded, and demonstrate participation in community and/or campus activities.

NEPA- AACA - Antique Automobile Club Association Scholarship

Established in 2000 by the members of the regional chapter of the AACA to benefit a student in LCCC's Automotive Program. Applicant must have completed 15 credits in the Automotive Technology curriculum and be in good academic standing.

Stephen G. Semanek Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2012 by friends and family through a benefit in memory of Stephen. Applicant must be enrolled in a Health Science curriculum, be active in his/her community and have financial need.

Teddi Janosov Scholarship

This award was established in 2018 and is available to a student who is actively involved in athletics and/or student activities at LCCC. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, be enrolled full time and have earned at least 24 credits at the time of award.
