Marigold Ofrendas (altars) are a tradition for Dia de los Muertos. The bright color and scent of the Marigold is thought to help guide spirits of the dead back to their loved ones. This holiday originates from the Aztec ritual known as Miccaihuitl and is prominent in Mexican cultre. We will be handmaking marigold decorations as a way for students to help commemorate/ honor/ remember loved ones who have passed on , while watching Dia de los Muertos inspired movies.
