Position Title: FT Director of Infrastructure/Network Operations

Position Classification: Full-Time Administration

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  1. Education - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required; Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

  2. Experience - Seven (7) years experience with various hardware devices including file servers; web servers; application servers; storage systems; proxy servers; firewalls; routers; networking hardware; hyper converged (HCL) technology; QoS systems; and spam filtering hardware; experience with various software products including M365/O365, HCL Notes email systems and IBM Domino servers; Apache web server; application server software including Apache Tomcat, proxy servers; firewalls including Sophos (SFOS); routers; networking, spam filtering software; networking software; various unix operating systems; Macintosh operating systems, MS/Windows Operating systems, VMware server virtualization software; subversion programming code repository server; enterprise backup software; network/device monitoring software; DNS server software; database server software including MySQL, Oracle and other various application software.

  3. Skills - Program planning and implementation skills; ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments; ability to foster a cooperative work environment; employee development and performance management skills; knowledge and understanding of information services needs within both an academic and administrative environment; demonstrated ability to plan and organize integrated information systems programs within complex organizations; skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures; ability to develop, plan, and implement short-range and long-range goals; knowledge of current developments and technological trends in computer hardware, software and network development; ability to research, analyze, and conceptualize long-term information systems needs on an organizational basis; knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures; ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to a technical staff.

    Position Responsibilities:

    Provide planning, acquisition, implementation, support, and performance tuning for central server components and operating systems (firewalls, email servers, web servers, application servers, database servers, QoS systems) to support the development, testing, and production of enterprise-wide, mission-critical applications and services to Luzerne County Community College; supervise the Network Manager and the Database Administrator; attends and participates in regularly scheduled Information Technology manager meetings to plan and discuss technology directives for the College; coordinate and provide leadership for new system development and implementation, system enhancements and improvements; review, evaluate, develop and recommend proposals for new hardware/software and/or upgrades, as appropriate; administer VMware virtualization servers; administer and support multiple enterprise email and instant messaging servers; administer quality of service hardware and software; administer and support multiple enterprise email spam filters; administer and support the College's library proxy server; administer various College web servers; administer VMware backup software, administer code repository server; administer network monitoring hardware and software; administer and support College's wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN) connections to multiple dedicated centers, administer SSL certificates; administer virtual private network connections for staff; formulate the development and implementation of integrated information technology policies and standards for the College; train and support IT staff within the department to ensure quality of performance and currency of skills; develop the annual operating budgets and provide fiscal direction for the network; participate in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-range and long-range planning; develop and implement projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals; supervise staff, assign work and work schedules, adjust priorities, has final authority on approval/disapproval of leave, conducts performance evaluation of staff; makes recommendations for hiring and/or termination and problem resolution. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Entry Salary: $70,783.78/annual

    Standard Work Week: 35 hours
