Join us this Wednesday, May 14th, at 6 PM for the Yeager Arboretum Campus Walk at Luzerne County Community College's Educational Conference Center. This engaging event promises a delightful evening outdoors, where participants can immerse themselves in the natural beauty and ecological richness of our campus.
Led by Vincent Cotrone, Urban Forestry Educator with Penn State Extension, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the diverse collection of trees that make up the Yeager Arboretum. This guided walk will offer insights into tree identification, care, and the vital role trees play in our urban and campus landscapes. Whether you're an avid nature lover or simply curious about the environment, the walk promises to be both educational and inspiring.
The Yeager Arboretum is a testament to the kindness and vision of Brooke and Libby Yeager, who sought to create a lasting legacy for Luzerne County Community College. Their endowment has allowed the college to establish the arboretum as a living classroom, fostering a connection to nature through the study of plants and trees. The original plantings feature native Pennsylvania species, with over 50 marked specimens to educate the community about their significance.
This event is not just an educational experience, but a wonderful opportunity to enjoy an evening outdoors. Participants can connect with like-minded individuals, appreciate the tranquility of the plants around them, and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of trees in our ecosystem.
Don't miss out on this enriching experience! Bring your friends and family for a night of exploration and learning that celebrates the natural world.
