The LCCC Computer Club and the Hi-Lites Motor Club will hold a car show and Trunk or Treat event on Saturday October 23, from noon to 3 p.m., at the Educational Conference Center parking lot, weather permitting. The club is asking for a $5 donation for each car, truck, SUV, minivan, etc. that enters the show. There is no charge for spectators and children. Trophies, door prizes, and gift certificates will be distributed at a Hi-Lites Car Cruise, and an award will be given for the best decorated vehicle. The LCCC Career Services Office is teaming up with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to hold White Cane Day to promote vision awareness and screening. Those in attendance can learn about employment opportunities working with the visually impaired at the VA Hospital and the Hazleton Blind Association. The event also will include free glaucoma screenings and will be held on Tuesday, October 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Campus Center, third floor.

In recognition of National Dental Hygiene Month, the Luzerne County Community College Benco Dental Clinic at the College's Francis S. and Mary Gill Carrozza, R.N. Health Sciences Center in Nanticoke will offer free dental services to the public for all appointments scheduled during October.

The clinic provides low-cost preventive dental hygiene services including teeth cleaning, x-rays, and fluoride treatments. Appointments are available on Mondays, from 4 to 8 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.; and Fridays, from

8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Appointments are four hours in length because dental hygiene students provide treatment which is evaluated by dental faculty. Local dentists on staff provide dental exams.

The dental department students and faculty from the Mary Gill Carrozza, R.N. School of Nursing and Health Sciences use CAPRS (powered air purifying respirators) while performing exams and follow all CDC guidelines for health care facilities.

The Luzerne County Community College Career Services Office will host the annual Health Sciences Career Fair on Tuesday, November 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Francis S. and Mary Gill Carrozza, R.N. Health Sciences Center in downtown Nanticoke.

The career fair is free and open to the public.

Luzerne County Community College will host the Luzerne County Regional College Fair on Thursday, November 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the College's Campus Center.

Representatives from close to 50 colleges, universities, and the armed forces will be at the program to speak with prospective college students and parents about educational opportunities and admission requirements. Representatives from the LCCC Financial Aid Office will be available to discuss federal and state financial aid programs. A financial aid presentation will be held at 6:30 p.m., at the Campus Center Rotunda.

The annual fair is free and open to the public and is sponsored by LCCC and the Luzerne County Counselors' Association.

The Student Life Office will hold Meet the President on Tuesday, October 26, from 11 a.m. to noon, at the Campus Center, third floor.

The Student Life Office will hold Bingo on Monday, October 25, at 11 a.m., at the Trailblazer Cafeteria.

The Student Life Office will hold a Halloween Movie Marathon on Friday, October 29, at 10 a.m., at the Campus Center, third floor.

Luzerne County Community College will hold an information night for its trades and technology programs on Thursday, November 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Technology Center and Trades Center, at the College's campus in Nanticoke.

Information regarding the College's trades and technology programs will be available as well as information on enrollment procedures, tuition, and financial aid. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to meet with faculty members to discuss educational and career opportunities and tour the centers.

Luzerne County Community College will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the opening of the LCCC Schulman Gallery with "Tunnel Vision," an art exhibit beginning Monday, October 25.

The exhibit will feature recent paintings by Sue Hand of regional coal breakers and coal miners and their families, as well as anthracite mining memorabilia from the private collection of Joseph Husty, Jr.

In conjunction with the exhibit, Sue Hand will create a coal breaker community painting on Sunday, November 7 and Sunday, November 14, from noon to 3 p.m., at the gallery. A special showing of the film "Beyond the Breaker" will be held on Wednesday, November 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Educational Conference Center.

The LCCC Schulman Gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit runs through Friday, December 17.

Campus Candids - Celebrating 20 Years in Hazleton!

LCCC recently held a 20th Anniversary Celebration at the College's Hazleton Center. The event included a science demonstration in the new science lab by LCCC students and faculty and an open house.
