Position Title: FT Heating, Ventilating and Air Condition (HVAC) Technician

Position Classification: Full-Time Classified

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  1. Education - Associates Degree from a regionally accredited institution or a recognized professional accrediting organization

  2. Experience - Two (2) years of appropriate work experience; universal refrigeration license with EPA certification required. Or High School Diploma and ten (10) years of appropriate work experience; universal refrigeration license with EPA certification required

  3. Skills - Skill in HVAC installation, repair and routine maintenance; knowledge of blueprints and schematics; knowledge of HVAC equipment preferably Carrier, Aaon, Mamoth, Trane, York and McQuay; knowledge of Alerton DCC Automation Systems and Control; knowledge of hydronic boiler heating systems; knowledge and ability to repair Carrier Flotronic Chillers, and McQuay Screw, and Scroll Compressor Chillers preferred. Knowledge of Liebert Air & Water Cooled Units preferred. Knowledge of basic electricity and electrical components; ability to use computer based monitoring and control devices in maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC systems; knowledge of refrigeration systems, low and medium temperature coolers and freezers; knowledge of constant volume and VAC type units with and without variable speed drive systems

    Position Responsibilities:

    Repairs and maintains all HVAC and refrigeration equipment; examine each piece of equipment and device to see that it is functioning properly and is in good operational condition; clean all components of dust, old lubricants, etc. to allow the equipment to function as desired; lubricate all equipment where needed to permit bearings, gears, and all contact wearing points to operate freely and without undue wear; adjust all linkages, motors, drives, etc. that have drifted from the initial design settings and positions; perform voltage and amperage checks to determine operating conditions of all units; calibrate all sensing, monitoring, output, safety, and read-out devices for proper ranges, settings, and optimum efficiencies; replace filters in all systems; check and adjust all refrigerant charges on the systems; drain pan and trap cleaning; test and cycle all equipment as a system after it has been cleaned, lubricated, adjusted, and calibrated to assure that it is in proper operating condition and performing at optimum efficiency; inspects and maintains all controls which operate the heating and A/C systems; cleans all indoor and outdoor coils as needed; cleans and vacuums coil and condenser; performs diagnostic check of all controls and components; check all refrigerant charges and perform any minor adjustments; clean and treat condensate pans; check and calibrate all safety controls; may perform miscellaneous plumbing and electrical work; assists with maintenance or grounds duties when necessary; flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

    Entry Salary: $52,556/annual

    Standard Work Week: 40 hours
