Position Title: FT KEYS Transition Support Specialist (Grant Funded)

Position Classification: Full-Time Administration

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  1. Education - Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, or related field; Master's preferred.

  2. Experience - Two (2) years of experience working with students or clients in education or social work setting, case management experience working with SNAP and TANF clients preferred; experience administering career interest inventory assessments; ability to work with nontraditional and diverse populations.

  3. Skills - Knowledge of current labor market trends and educational pathways to careers; knowledge and use of student search sites/databases, student information systems, and new career/network building technologies; well-developed written and oral communication skills; strong computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and ability to learn and navigate the state data system and the college's data system; confidence in handling difficult conversations with students; high level of integrity and confidentiality; ability to work on varied projects and meet deadlines; and strong organization skills and ability to maintain concise records.

    Position Responsibilities:

    Work directly with the KEYS Coordinator in maintaining and adapting the framework for transition plans that include: creating appropriate pathways for students from pre-college (GED) to college to career; develop and input each KEYS student's Individual Employment Plan and Individual Service Strategy (introduce by DHS in July, 2020) at the start of each semester or within two weeks of program orientation; connect students with career exploration activities, bridge programs, and training opportunities; administer and review interest inventories, such as strength finder assessments to identify pathways to success; work closely with all KEYS students in identifying academic and career goals; facilitate workshops for students that focus on careers, opportunities for apprenticeships/internships, and community service opportunities; develop and participate in industry outreach to identify local career needs within high priority occupations and establish training partnership and work placement opportunities for students; assist in supporting student work placements, including internships and community service; maintain accurate and detailed weekly records of KEYS GED students' activity in the state data system; maintain concise student files; work closely with the KEYS Student Facilitator to ensure transitional plan development for all KEYS students; develop and maintain relationships with regional EARN programs to ensure appropriate collaboration as set forth by DHS (introduced in July 2020); and provide intensive case management for all KEYS GED students. Perform other related duties as assigned and local travel when necessary.

    Entry Salary: $44,566.50/annual

    Standard Work Week: 35 hours
